  • You have 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial roof estimating and sales.

Qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience in commercial low-slope roof estimating in sales/estimating and/or project management with experience in single-ply roofing systems representing a self-performed roofing contractor.

Highly qualified candidates will have seven or more years demonstrated experience with estimating and/or managing self-performed labor for a wide range of commercial roofing systems, including mechanically and fully- adhered systems, ballasted, hot, cold, and torch-applied, hot & cold fluid applied, built-up, and waterproofing coatings.

In addition, to be a good fit for the Sales Estimator opportunity, you will be able to:
  • Understand invitations to bid / requests for proposals
  • Understand construction plans (blueprints) and project manuals (specifications)
  • Travel to job sites to perform building walks with customers and specifiers
  • Perform building surveys and core sampling as required
  • Complete quantitative takeoffs and prepare final estimates for review
  • Write high-quality professional proposals for bid submissions
  • Collaborate with a highly-effective team of PMs and service department staff
  • Deliver accurate estimating figures to accounting and the project management team
  • Work safely by following proper OSHA and other safety policies, rules, and regulations
  • Be comfortable working at height, using ladders, following safety procedures
Necessary soft skills:
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong competency with computers and software
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to organize information and schedule time efficiently
Preferred qualifications or experience include:
  • Commercial roofing knowledge and experience in single-ply, asphalt, cold-applied, hot-applied, and metal products

Reporting to the President, you will coordinate with internal stakeholders to strategically target sales opportunities in the market. This will include networking with industry trade groups and owners’ consultants, and calling on target customer lists to develop new relationships and discover new opportunities. You'll work closely with project managers and contract administrators during handoff and pre-construction planning.

More specifically, you will:
  • Develop and grow a sales portfolio of $3-$7MM in annual sales volume
  • Prepare accurate estimates using company estimating software
  • Write high-quality, customer-oriented, detailed bid proposals
  • Provide historically accurate budget information to project management team
  • Develop relationships with new customers in target markets
  • Maintain reoccurring business relationships with clients
  • Select bidding opportunities based on scheduling needs from project management
  • Performing outside sales and prospecting efforts, tracking leads and bids in CRM software
We'll provide leads from multiple platforms, and we'll also welcome prospects from your existing network. Sales Estimators typically work from 7 AM to 5 PM, but that varies from week to week. You can expect to spend about 30% of your time out in the field, including walking roofs as necessary.
